Businesses have rallied round to help pupils at a primary school improve their reading skills.

Kinnaird Primary School recently had its reading garden redeveloped and a new shed installed as a place where youngsters can enjoy a safe and quiet space to read.

Louise Taylor, acting principal teacher, said: “Over the holidays, Kinnaird Primary had a redevelopment of our Reading Garden. Our Reading Reps are working with their classes on selecting a name for the Reading Garden and Shed.

"Classes will be able to access this area during library time and the Reading Reps will be working on sorting books into age appropriate boxes, so it will be easier for classes to select books when using the area. The Reading Garden will also be available during breaks and lunch. This will be a safe and quiet space for pupils to access during breaks, and also promotes reading for enjoyment as we head towards our Gold Reading Schools Accreditation.

"A huge thank you to Andy Buchanan from APB Landscapes for the redevelopment of our garden and to the following companies who supported him with donations of time and materials: IBT Building and Timber Merchant; Huws Gray; Foz Sports Body Shop; and Tillicoultry Quarries.”
