A BUS driver from Bo'ness has scooped her employer's "First Mini Monster Challenge" – a tough running and cycling event.

Diane Crowther and her 14-year-old daughter Amelia won the family and friends' race – a relay style 1.5km run or 3km cycle. Also in the team were Musselburgh-based bus driver Robert McAlpine (51) and his nephew, Laurie Cunningham (11).

Diane and Robert then went on to make it a double in the adults race - either a 3k run or 10k cycle - with team members Jimmy McKerracher and Maria McAlpine.

The duathlon at Pollok Country Park, Glasgow, was uniquely aimed at children and families.

As well as promoting fitness, the event raised money for Save the Children.

Diane, who is employed by First East Scotland, said: "It was a fantastic fun day. It was a real team effort and I am really chuffed to have come first with my daughter and friends. We'll be back next year."
