It's just a bowtiful day
IT was a day out for the whole family, including the dog, at Linlithgow Peel last Saturday.
The Linlithgow Dog Show and Family Fun Day had children's rides and games, as well as nine competitions, including "Waggiest Tail" and "Best Black Bitch."
The show was celebrating the year of the Assistance Dog and volunteers from The Guide Dog Association, Hearing Dogs, and Sled Dogs were on hand to educate the public about the work that assistance dogs do.
Claire Staines of Lothlorien Dog Services was one of the judges.
She said: "It went really well. It gets better and better every year.
It was exceedingly difficult to judge as the dogs and children were all very good – you wanted to give them all a prize!"
The Best Pup (under six months) prize went to Canadian Eskimo dog "Dakota," owned by Cheryl Gow, the only one of its breed in Scotland.
Cheryl said: "We were delighted Dakota won. It is an endangered species and we want to promote the breed."
The event was organised by Burgh Beautiful and the Historic Scotland Ranger Service.
Iain Lewis, a Historic Scotland Ranger at the Peel said: "There were slightly more dogs than last year and we were very pleased with how it went. It was a great community day."
Joyce Patterson of Burgh Beautiful thanked Lothlorien Dog Services, Oakwell Boarding Kennels, Platform 3, Linlithgow and Bo'ness Rotary Club and Blast Off Books for sponsoring the event, Liz Burrows for organising the tombola stall and all the visitors for keeping the Peel clean and tidy.
