YOUNG Sarah MacNeill has marked Saturday, August 9, as the most important event in her young life to date.
For on that day, Sarah (10) will be crowned the 2008 Ferry Fair Queen.
The Echline primary six pupil was first out of the hat when the retinue selection process was carried out recently.

And despite the regal date being more than 13 weeks away, Sarah, mum Susan, dad Stewart and younger brother David (8) are all eagerly awaiting the big day.

Mum Susan said: "We are all really excited as it is such a big honour to become a Ferry Fair Queen."

The family reside at the town's Ashburnham Loan, having moved from Stoneyflatts four years ago.

Susan added: "This is the first time our family has been involved in the Ferry Fair, the last time around (2005) Sarah was too young but now that she is older, she was keen to get involved."

Susan believes that young Sarah, a keen ballet dancer, will not put a foot wrong on the big day.

When questioned as to what Queen-elect Sarah will be wearing, Susan said: "We are still working on the design for the dress for the big day.
