LINLITHGOW RFC Wee Reds were guests at the Lasswade tournament on Sunday and it looked like the boys would have to work very hard to do well.
Other visiting teams included Heriots, West of Scotland and Musselburgh.
The P6's have generally fared well against Lasswade however the coaches warned the squad that they would have to work hard to do well.

But within the first three minutes, Reds clocked up a hat trick of tries and by half time the game was effectively over with a further four tries.

The coaches put on all the substitutes at half time and the fresh legs proved their worth.

Despite the 12-0 score, and the fact that Lasswade never really troubled Linlithgow, the squad didn't gel as a team with most of the scores coming from individual efforts.

Having beaten Living-ston the previous week, the squad was in a confident mood for the second game.

The game started off more slowly for the Wee Reds, their play still lacking cohesion as a team.

However, by half time they were again well in control.

Full use of the squad was made in the second half and, again, the fresh legs helped keep the scoreboard ticking over. Final score 10-0.

The score slightly flattered the Wee Reds as they were guilty of a bit too much individualism.

West of Scotland overcame Heriots and Mussel-burgh and the stage was set for the final.

The boys had struggled against West at the start of the season, so the coaches knew that they would have a mountain to climb if they didn't play as a team.

The West of Scotland winger ran three quarters of the length of the park to open the scoring which appeared to momentarily rattle the Wee Reds.

However they soon regrouped and finally started to pull together as a team to put in one of their best defensive displays of the season.

They soon equalised and vastly improved organisation around the rucks and mauls started to swing the balance more in Linlith-gow's favour.

By half time the boys had built slender lead with another two tries.

The second half was equally close as the first, however the boys stuck to their task with magnificent commitment and deter-mination with two further tries making the final score 5-1.

The boys thoroughly deserved their medals for the way they pulled together as a squad and win through.

Next week the Wee Reds visit GHA in Glasgow.
