Camelon Juniors manager Stewart Kenny reckons his side are beginning to turn a corner in their bid to stave off a second successive relegation.

The Mariners beat Lochore Welfare 3-1 on Saturday in the East of Scotland First Division to move out of the bottom three on goal difference.

"It was a battling performance,” he said of the game. “It wasn’t a football-playing pitch and it was one we had to roll up our sleeves and just get the three points from. We did that and we had some stand-out performers.

"We changed the shape in the second half and we saw the game out very well, Lochore is a tough, tough place to go. Our four recent signings have really brought something to the side too and it feels like we are getting somewhere.”

Camelon now face local rivals Syngenta in the King Cup third round on Friday night.

"It will be a great game,” he added. I saw them against Auchinleck in the Scottish Cup and they were superb.”
